Location, Start and end point of the trail.
Congo Nile trail is located in the western province and it extends from Rubavu, continues through Rutsiro, then Karongi, up to Nyamasheke and ends at Rusizi District. The trail starts from Gisenyi, Rubavu District, in the western province. It features lake Kivu, sandy beaches, big hotels such as INZU Lodge. It ends in the Southern shores of Rusizi District.
Time taken to completeand best season to hike the trail.
There are mainly four options to cmplete the trail, by a car , by cycling, by biking, and by walking. Walking take many days about 9-10 days depending on the hikers’ speed. Biking takes about 5 days which is shorter. Travelers can also decide to trail in section at a time. The best seasons for hiking the trail is not in the rainy seasons (March – May and October – November) since some section are muddy making it strenuous for movements.
