Location, Start and end point of the trail.

Congo Nile trail is located in the western province and it extends from Rubavu, continues through Rutsiro, then Karongi, up to Nyamasheke and ends at Rusizi District. The trail starts from Gisenyi, Rubavu District, in the western province. It features lake Kivu, sandy beaches, big hotels such as INZU Lodge. It ends in the Southern shores of Rusizi District.

Time taken to completeand best season to hike the trail.

There are mainly four options to cmplete the trail, by a car , by cycling, by biking, and by walking. Walking take many days about 9-10 days depending on the hikers’ speed. Biking takes about 5 days which is shorter. Travelers can also decide to trail in section at a time.  The best seasons for hiking the trail is not in the rainy seasons (March – May and October – November) since some section are muddy making it strenuous for movements.

Various sections on the trail have diffrent features, in that some are: hilly, rocky, forested and the traveler has to hike through the tangled jungle. Some of the travelers to hike the trail with a car or by foot or motor cycle and others a bike. Packing food ain’t that necessary because along the trails their sell food stuffs along the trail therefore it will be available. While hiking Congo Nile Trail, you get  aglimpse of extende farms of different food crops such as matooke, cassava, Irish potatoes and many more. Farming is part of Rwanda people’s Economic activities, others include fishing among others. In some sections of the trail, children will wave at you with that smily face which is also fine to wave back to them.   Some Rawnda women are seen carrying bundles of firewood and men fishing on lkae Kivu. The trail runs between the Nile and Congo rivers, where you’ll witness the beauty of Rwanda and views of the Rift Valley escarpment, waterfalls and Lake Kivu.
